Rome, from Sunset to Dawn
Following Venice, Pal Zileri chooses the "Eternal Beauty" of Rome to tell the story of the Fall/Winter 2022 collection.
Rome, "Eternal City" but always in the making, this time lives through the alternation of the day lights, giving an infinite range of colors, shades and vibrations.
Indeed, is the light the protagonist of the shots, which marks the passage of time and unravels a story of everyday life that begins in Castel Sant’Angelo, with the warm colors of the sunset, up to the early hours of the morning from the Gianicolo, sharing with us images that contain the essence of the Italian living, a normal life but at the same time exceptional.
Living in Rome means having the Lungo Tevere as a private livingroom for a game of chess, wandering around the Pantheon by the moon light, so close to the history that you can almost touch it, then climb up to the Gianicolo to admire the livid lights of the dawn from above, while colors slowly paint the domes of the city. Having breakfast at Bar Giolitti, to enjoy a freshly baked croissant, and then make a quick stop at the historic Peppino Barberia where actors, politicians and prominent figures of Roman life feels at home.
This time, our companions on this short journey are Tommaso de Benedictis, art curator, born in New York but raised in Rome, who acts as Cicero for Leo Napier, a musician, also American by birth and visiting Rome for the first time in his life.
Two young men that perfectly embody Pal Zileri’s "Effortless Attitude" with a cool but relaxed way of being, interpreting the Fall/Winter 22 collection with contemporary elegance.
The main protagonist of the collection is the return of the suit, revisited in a contemporary key, far different from the concept of "uniform" that characterized it in the past.
The suit, as the blazer, becomes an expression of relaxed elegance, worn without the tie and paired with soft jersey shirts or precious knitwear with inlays and drop-outs.
The Evening selection, rises with the damask velvet tuxedo becomes "effortless" worn without the bow tie, with nonchalance.
Alongside the suits, there is a wide range of outerwear ranging from the classic single-breasted or double-breasted camel coat, presented in an elegant butter color, to the bomber jackets worn over the suits and the blazers creating an overlap between casual and formal.
The iconic Oyster Jacket is presented in the bomber version crafted from technical fabric and knit, as in the Field Jacket version, which has now become a milestone of the Pal Zileri collections.
The offer of outerwear is completed by elegant down jackets, a double coat in pure wool with a detachable bomber inside and the iconic Varsity Jacket.
Great importance is also given to the knitwear, crafted from soft and warm yarns and paired with double pleat trousers giving to the look a sophisticated sporty-chic allure.
With Pal Zileri, menswear becomes easy but never banal, elegance becomes the expression of a new way of experiencing the contemporary.
To interpret this vision is once again Stefano Galuzzi, the photographer that with his "stolen" shots, from several seasons tells the "Efforless Attitude" of Pal Zileri. With his sensitivity for light, Galuzzi has built another "brand tale" of contemporary elegance.
